Training

ERSARA members are required to learn and maintain competencies in Basic Search and Rescue Skills and First Aid. There are opportunities to supplement  training with Lost Person Behaviour, Evidence handling, Clue awareness, Navigation, Survival, Team leader training, Search Manager training and many other courses that will further a members’ SAR career. Many of these courses require a high level of dedication and a large time commitment for the member.

Basic Search and Rescue Skills training requires approximately 60 hours to complete. The course spans over three weekends including Friday evenings. Basic Search and Rescue Skills training is only conducted during recruitment years.
